Mile of Toonies

TooniesThe North Surrey Lions Club was interested in supporting the Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation but we wanted to do something different, something that everyone could take part in.

One of our members, Lion Margaret Daniel, mentioned that many years ago, she worked on a project called a mile of pennies. Given the amount of money we would like to raise, we thought we would do “A Mile of Toonies” as a project for 2011.

By our estimation, if we can collect a mile of toonies, we will raise over $110,000!

But we can’t do it on our own. We want to encourage everyone to participate. Toonies will be collected at all Lion’s events during 2011. Prospera Credit Union will also be collecting toonies at all Prospera Branches in Surrey.

Why not have a “Toonie” party this year? Encourage people to give a toonie or a foot of toonies to this great cause.
